More incredible female founders — more reasons to shop small and shop intentionally

I need you to hear me on this: the women in this post are building something right now.

Forget the "shop small" messaging for a second and just think about what it actually takes. You quit the safe thing, or you build something on the side of the safe thing, and you put your name on it. You figure out branding and taxes and packaging and shipping and customer service and social media — often alone, often while raising kids, often while also doing every other thing life demands of you. And you keep going.

That is not small. That is extraordinary. And when you take your money and give it to one of these women instead of a faceless corporation? You are directly funding that extraordinary. You are the reason she gets to keep going.

I want to shake you by the shoulders and say: these female founders are making things right now that will become your new favorites. These are the kind of gifts from women-owned businesses that you can actually be proud to give — things with a story, made with intention, by someone who put their whole self into them.

Here are nine more women whose work deserves every bit of your attention. If you missed Part 1, go back and read it — but first, let's get into these finds, because some of them are almost unbelievably good.

Tanya Flemister — a Colorado native who returned to her hometown of Yuma to build something genuinely new — invented a patented six-clip non-slip headband system that has become a legitimate obsession for women everywhere. SWAY ("She Will Amaze You") is manufactured locally, employing women on flexible schedules, and Tanya introduced an entirely new industry to an agricultural community. She won the 2024 Logan County Startup Colorado Pitch Grant. The business is a whole story wrapped up in a hair accessory, and it's a great one.

Featured Product

Large Satin Headbands

The Large Satin Headband is SWAY's signature statement piece — silky, luxurious, and completely unlike anything you've tried before. Six built-in steel clips keep the satin scarf locked in place all day without pinching, slipping, or giving you that awful headache that regular headbands cause. You can wear it over 20 different ways: wide headband, knotted turban, draped boho scarf, sleek updo wrap. One woman wrote that she wore it to a wedding, danced all reception, and it didn't move once. Another described wearing it through a yoga class and a motorcycle ride. These are real testimonials from real women, and they are extremely convincing.

Karen Mok started Dear Naura during the pandemic when a zero-waste side project taught her that she genuinely loved the science of formulating skincare. She studied organic chemistry at her local college and took a professional formulation course, and now she handmakes small-batch, clean, holistic skincare in Los Angeles — in glass packaging, with ECOCERT-approved preservatives, shelf-tested and microbial-safe. This is a woman who cares deeply about what's in your products and why.

Featured Product

Vitamin B Hyaluronic Acid Serum for Eye, Face and Neck

This oil-free, fragrance-free serum is the kind of thing skincare obsessives would find in a $90 product, made by a woman who knows her ingredients so well she can explain the chemistry behind every single one. Niacinamide (vitamin B3) brightens, heals, and minimizes pores. Panthenol (vitamin B5) hydrates and softens. High-molecular-weight hyaluronic acid plumps without any sticky feeling. Plus Irish moss and bamboo water for deep hydration, and a probiotic preservative to keep the formula stable and skin-kind. Apply day and night. Stored in a beautiful glass dropper bottle — refillable, sustainable, and gorgeous on a shelf.

Dana Longland is a Canadian mama, artist, and bestselling watercolor book author based in Wasaga Beach, Ontario — and her handmade kids' clothing line is exactly the kind of business you want to exist in the world. She creates small-batch, bamboo and cotton blend clothing for children that is designed to fit 9–12 months longer than standard store sizing. Less waste. Better value. Incredibly soft. Dana hand-sews each piece herself and prints her own original artwork right in her studio.

Featured Product

Oversized Bamboo & Cotton Sweater Rompers

These sweater rompers are the kind of thing kids refuse to take off — a reviewer's daughter "begged her to do laundry so she could wear it again." They're made from Dana's signature bamboo/cotton French terry blend: breathable, naturally moisture-wicking, antibacterial, and so soft it's practically unfair. The oversized fit means your kiddo will wear it for over a year longer than anything you'd find at a big box store, and the original prints — including Dana's beloved Classic Pooh Daisies design — are exclusive to Year After Year. This is sustainable kids' fashion that actually makes sense.

Madison Riddolls started Flirty Pineapple because she was tired of ponytail fails in spin class. Her husband Liam borrowed his mom's 1973 sewing machine and taught himself to sew, and after months of testing scrunchies across a variety of hair types, they had something actually worth selling. This Toronto-based brand now makes OEKO-TEX certified, Canadian-made hair accessories that have built a genuine community — scrunchies, claw clips, headbands, and more, in styles that hold through real life without sacrificing a single thing on style.

Featured Product

Athletic Scrunchies

Here's the thing — Madison personally tested these scrunchies through spin class, hot yoga, pilates, and long runs before she sold a single one. The moisture-wicking, soft-cooling, ultra-stretchy fabric keeps your hair in place without that awful ponytail headache, and it doesn't slip mid-downward-dog. Available in mini through jumbo sizes to fit every hair type, in a wide range of colors that make it genuinely hard to choose just one. One reviewer noted significantly less hair breakage since switching. That kind of real feedback from a real person with real hair? That's the whole point.

Tara Scheel built Shade Tree Naturals around one guiding belief: that a natural lifestyle should be accessible, not overwhelming. She handcrafts her body and home products in small batches with natural ingredients and pure therapeutic-grade essential oils, and the care that goes into each bottle is palpable. This is the kind of shop you fall into on a Friday afternoon and emerge from 45 minutes later with a very full cart and a very clear sense of what you're getting everyone for the holidays.

Featured Product

Herbal Remedies Swedish Dishcloth

Okay, hear me out — this is the gift that makes people feel genuinely seen. Shade Tree Naturals carries these gorgeous Swedish dishcloths printed with an herbal remedies design, and they are the most charming, useful thing you can add to a kitchen. Each cloth replaces up to 17 rolls of paper towels, absorbs up to 3/4 cup of liquid, lasts 6–12 months or 200 wash cycles, and then composts at the end of its life. No stinky sponge smell. Dishwasher safe. Made from FSC-certified wood cellulose and cotton. It's the rare product that's simultaneously beautiful, practical, zero-waste, and under $15 — which makes it the easiest gift decision you'll make all year.

Tatiana Lynn Boland has been studying the healing properties of herbs since the early 1990s — she studied Organic Agriculture at Prescott College, has worked in natural foods for decades, and started making cold-process soap with the Olympia Ladies Soap Collective back in 2002. Her Omaha-based Apothecuryous, founded in 2015, uses food-grade and certified organic ingredients in formulations she's refined over a lifetime of learning. This is someone who genuinely knows what she's doing, and it shows in every product.

Queen of Hungary Astringent

A 14th-century formula, updated by a woman who has spent decades studying exactly what plants can do for skin. Tatiana's Queen of Hungary Astringent combines herbal-infused organic raw apple cider vinegar with lavender and rose hydrosols, witch hazel distillate, aloe, and palmarosa oil into a pH-balancing toner that genuinely works. The ACV delivers natural alpha hydroxy acids that gently exfoliate, reduce redness, and purify pores, while the lavender and rose floral waters calm and hydrate without leaving skin stripped. It's alcohol-free, it smells like an herbalist's garden, and one reviewer who travels the country sampling boutique skincare products said this toner stopped them in their tracks at a Nebraska market and they've been obsessed ever since. The kind of product that earns that reaction is the kind worth buying.

Jenna Bricher Swim

Jenna Bee · jennabricher.com

Jenna Bricher is a natural 32H who got completely fed up with the futile experience of trying to find swimwear for a large bust — so she made her own. Jenna Bricher Swim is handmade in Los Angeles from recycled Italian ECONYL fabric (regenerated from fishing nets and carpet fibers recovered from the ocean), with top sizes ranging from C through I cup and bottoms in sizes 2 through 24. This is luxury swimwear built specifically for busty women, by a woman who refused to settle for "fine."

Featured Product

The Alyssa Triangle Top

The Alyssa Triangle Top is constructed with two full layers of fabric that reinforce the structure and provide genuine support — not the kind of "support" that large-bust swimwear usually offers in name only. The premium Italian ECONYL fabric is silky-soft, four-way stretch, chlorine-resistant, and resists pilling so it maintains its appearance for multiple seasons. One reviewer who is usually a 36I bra size said it fits well and she loves it — which is genuinely remarkable. This is the kind of swimwear that makes women actually look forward to summer.

Terri Allen Knudsen built Willow Field Soap around a simple, beautiful idea: feeling clean should feel comforting. Like a small act of kindness for your own skin. She handcrafts her bars in small batches with skin-loving ingredients — shea butter, avocado oil, coconut milk, kaolin clay — and adds real Tussah Silk to every formula for that silky, impossibly smooth lather that makes you want to linger in the shower. These are the bars people say they'll "always want on hand."

Featured Product

Coffee Soap

Terri's Coffee Soap is the one that makes your shower smell like the best coffee shop you've ever walked into. The scent is a blend of toasted hazelnut, fresh dark coffee, a touch of maple and vanilla cream, and sugar crystals — warm and grounding and completely cozy. But beyond the scent, this bar actually performs: Tussah Silk in the formula helps it glide over skin with a luxurious smoothness, the lather is rich without stripping moisture, and your skin feels genuinely soft after. Not tight, not dry, not overworked. It's the bar that converts people into Willow Field customers for life.

Brooke Happe is a Doctor of Physical Therapy turned stay-at-home mom of three who started crocheting during the transition — and then turned a single beanie into a whole brand. b.e.happe (her initials) started as a way to cover greasy mom hair and became something much more: handcrafted knit pom hats and slouchy beanies made in the USA by a team of women who knit from home on flexible schedules. Brooke's family lived on the road in an RV for over five years and donated to children's hospital wish lists in every state they visited. This brand is pure heart.

Featured Product

Adult Knit Pom Hat Collection

One customer wrote she's on her fifth and sixth b.e.happe hat. Another says she gets compliments on it everywhere she goes. These are chunky-knit, premium-yarn hats with that oversized faux fur pom that's simultaneously cozy and chic — the kind that works for school drop-offs, hiking trails, travel days, and messy-bun mornings with equal ease. Made with natural wool, they're soft, breathable, and built to last for years. Available in baby through adult sizes and in mommy-and-me sets, because Brooke knows that sometimes the best kind of joy is a matching moment with your kid.
